belfast in half a day

While I’m sure there’s more to Belfast than the Titanic Exhibition, we didn’t get a chance to see much. We only had one and a half days there – and our full day was already reserved for the Giant’s Causeway, leaving us with only about a half a day to explore the city. Here are a few photos from some of the places we did get a chance to see:

Belfast Central Station – The train from Dublin to Belfast is a little over 2.5 hours. As of March 2013, a roundtrip ticket will cost you 32.50 Euros (or $37 USD). They also offer a student discount. I don’t remember exactly how much but just be sure to have your student ID handy!

Welcome to Belfast!
Don't forget to exchange some British Pound Sterling - they don't use Euros up here!

Americans need their KFC! Big change from the potato wedges I'm used to though.

Peace Wall – the peace lines were built in 1969 during the 1969 Northern Ireland Riots. Its purpose was to mitigate violence between the Catholic and Protestant communities. Today, you can take a black taxi there and the driver will take you to notable spots. If I remember correctly, the gates close at 9 pm so make sure you’re out by then. You definitely don’t want to be stuck there.
